In 2016 my 2006 Apple 30 inch Cinema display gave out and I got a 27 in thunderbolt monitor only to be disappointed by its glare and functionality. I then got a 5k thunderbolt monitor and hated it even more, it looked terrible. When I got a 2017 Mac Book Pro with only USB-C ports forcing me  to carry adapters. I realized there could be a good medium if only the charger I already carried everywhere had more functionally. If only it housed ports that could charge my iPhone, Apple watch, iPad, and laptop while also allowing me to get photos off SD cards and connect to TV's that used HDMI.  I wanted to learn to build a high density power supply and USB-C hub before committing to the more expensive display and started working on the design for this hub in my spare time after work. 

I recruited help from friends and and was able to built a few prototypes. We decided to try crowdfunding Orange Charger USB-C Hub to raise money for non recurring engineering cost to bring the product to market. Things like cutting injection modeling tools and buying parts in bulk to build the electronics. In the processes of marketing and building a campaign we created this website. After 2 months of collecting emails and looking at bounce rates we did a redesign of the website and found a better conversion rate. We ran social media ads, hired a marketing firm focused on crowdfunding, and collected data to evaluate if we wanted to make the larger investment to do Orange USB-C Charger from scratch. 

The website lives on as we have pivoted into a market I'm more passionate about; electric vehicles and clean energy; and now Orange builds and electric vehicle charging platform.
